ROBERT J. LANDY, Ph.D., RDT/BCT, LCAT is Professor of Educational Theatre and Applied Psychology and Director of the Drama Therapy Program at New York University. A pioneer in the profession of Drama Therapy, he lectures and trains professionals internationally. As researcher and writer, Landy has published and produced numerous books, articles and plays in the fields of Drama, Drama Therapy, Musical Theatre and related topics. His latest book, The Couch and the Stage: Integrating Words and Action in Psychotherapy, was released Fall, 2007.
Dr. Landy has been featured in the media in the CBS-TV series “Drama in Education,” the award-winning documentary film, “Standing Tall,” and his own production, “Three Approaches to Drama Therapy.” As a drama therapist, he has more than 30 years of clinical experience, having treated children and adults with a wide range of psychiatric, cognitive and adjustment problems. Dr. Landy has also worked in prisons, developing a program to treat mentally ill offenders at Riker’s Island Correctional Facility in New York City and rehabilitation programs in several New York State prisons.
EMILY L. NASH, LCAT has been a leader in the field of therapeutic theater for twenty-five years. She co-founded Creative Alternatives of New York, an organization integrating techniques of theatre and group psychotherapy. She is the Artistic Director and Director of Training and Supervision at Creative Alternatives and has presented her work at national and international conferences, published her work with traumatized youth and worked in Bosnia with teachers and children traumatized by war. Ms. Nash also has extensive experience as a professional actress.
